Our recent post about the St. Jude Country Music Marathon highlighted some of the great volunteer opportunities that the race provides, as well as the fundraising efforts by some of the race’s participants. With visitors and participants expected to exceed 30,000, you should be prepared for some delays on Saturday morning if you travel downtown.
The races this weekend will begin at 6:45 a.m. There will be restricted access to certain roads, so you’ll need to plan alternate routes. Roads included for closure include:
- Music Row
- Belmont Boulevard
- 12 South
- The Gulch
- Bicentennial Mall
- East Nashville
- LP Field (for the finish)
However, West End Avenue and Vanderbilt have been freed up due to course changes this year. For more information on road closures and to see alternate access routes to downtown, visit the road closures page.
Impact on Advance Financial Customers
Our store on Jefferson Street will remain open for the race but will be impacted because the runners will be passing the store twice. Volunteers from Advance Financial will be handing out orange slices to runners – we’re having the oranges delivered, and there will be lots of them! The store is close to mile markers 11 and 16.
Health and Fitness Expo
Prior to the race, there will be a Health and Fitness Expo at the Nashville Music City Center, which will be held over a two-day period. Today, April 24, the Expo hours will be 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., and on April 25, the Expo hours will be 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and there will be free admission to all. The Expo will feature fitness apparel, health and nutrition information, running technology, and more.
After the runners have completed the course and are rested up, they are all invited to a concert on Saturday night. Headlining the concert will be stars from ABC’s hit show Nashville. If you’re a runner and are planning on attending the concert, make sure to take your race number for free entry. The concert is open for all, and you don’t have to be a runner to see the show. Find out more information about the stars participating in the post-race concert.
