Advance Financial Wins Award for Corporate Social Responsibility

Our very own VP of Corporate Citizenship, Shantrelle Johnson, attended the 8th Annual Golden Bridge Awards® in San Francisco Monday, Sept. 12. Johnson accepted the Gold Winner award for the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year.
Advance Financial was honored for our corporate citizenship program, and the Advance Financial Foundation, which gave $203,755 in charitable contributions in 2015 to education and health and wellness organizations in Nashville and the other 34 cities throughout Tennessee where we have storefronts. Employees also logged a total of 1,557 community service hours in these cities. In the first half of 2016 the program gave $142,000 and volunteered nearly 1,000 hours.
“At Advance Financial we see helping others as a way of life, both within our financial centers and out in the community,” said Tina Hodges, chief executive and chief experience officer for Advance Financial. “Our corporate citizenship program has grown immensely since we brought on Shantrelle and created the foundation. It’s an incredible honor to have our efforts recognized by this international awards program.”
The Golden Bridge Awards® are an annual industry and peers recognition program honoring the best companies in every major industry from large to small and new start-ups in North America, Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin-America.
F.E.A.R. – Face Everything and Rise

Meet the “Fab Five,” an elite group of Advance Financial employees who have just celebrated five years with the company. To mark this momentous occasion, the group went white water rafting.
Several people that went on the trip were very reluctant to go. Some couldn’t swim really well, some were afraid of water in general, and some had never been on an excursion like this and had no idea what to expect.
For those who faced their fears and went on the trip, they had a blast and were grateful for the opportunity. One person said, “This gave several of us the opportunity to do something we never would have done on our own and we faced some of our greatest fears!”
Facing fears and phobias is not always easy. Here are some tips from Dr.Phil.com:
- Ask yourself if the fear is rational or irrational
- Understand that you have control over the “on/off” switch related to your fear
- Challenge your fears. Use objective criteria and see if your fears meet that criteria
- Change your internal dialogue. Replace negative, irrational dialogue with rational, fact-based dialogue
Advance Financial is looking for branch managers. Some may be intimidated by the thought of this responsibility and may not apply because of this fear. But the truth is, you’ll never know unless you try. The only way you can get over the mountain is by going over it, not through it or around it, but straight over the top.
Healthy, Wealthy and Wise

At Advance Financial, we believe in good health. One of the focal points of our charitable giving is health and wellness. But we also believe in promoting the good health of our employees. Being healthy can be a lot of work, that’s why we want to help in any way we can with the process. Here are a few of the benefits we offer:

Also, on Sunday, May 4, 2014, we had our 2nd Annual Health Fair for our employees and their families at our corporate office. There were approximately 150 people in attendance. About 25 vendors attended and handed out information and gave demonstrations on everything from exercise to food nutrition and everything in between.
Cigna conducted biometric screenings and approximately 64 employees participated in this. This provided important information such as blood pressure, body mass index, glucose levels and cholesterol. Awareness is the first step toward change and this provided employees some good information.
Another facet of good health is financial health. One of the things Advance Financial offers is a 401k savings plan. This allows employees to contribute a percentage of their earnings, through payroll deduction, into a long-term savings plan. The employee contribution is a pre-tax deduction.
The first 3% of the money you save is matched by the company at 100%. Because Advance Financial believes in good financial health, employees are automatically enrolled into the 401k plan at a 1% savings level when they are eligible after 6 months of employment. Our 401k savings plan representative had a table at the health fair and offered employees more information about the plan.
