Say Goodbye to Summer

nashville events for labor day weekend

Labor Day is a U.S. holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. Created by the labor movement in the late 19th century, it constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of this country. It became a federal holiday in 1894.

Labor Day also officially marks the end of summer. Here are a few ideas for fun around Nashville to help celebrate this three-day weekend:

  • Have a picnic with family and/or friends There are a lot of Nashville’s Parks or Tennessee State Parks to enjoy some outdoor fun.
  • Take the kids to a water park In Nashville your family can enjoy loads of water fun at either Nashville Shores or Wave Country.
  • Do a little shopping There are lots of Labor Day sales. If the heat is too much for you, take your fun inside and visit one of the Nashville area malls. Here’s a list to get you started: Cool Springs Galleria, Opry Mills, Prime Outlets at Lebanon, Providence Marketplace, Rivergate Mall, Stones River Mall.
  • See a play in the park Shakespeare in the Park will have a special Labor Day performance at the Centennial Park Bandshell.
